1ST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON MONITORING AND CONTROL OF WATER SYSTEMS 2026 (MOCWS2026)

Chalkida, Euboea, Greece | May 28–29, 2026

1. Overview and Objectives

The 1st International Conference on Monitoring and Control of Water Systems invites the submission of original research papers addressing theoretical developments, computational methods, enabling technologies, and practical applications related to the analysis, monitoring, estimation, supervision, diagnosis, and control of water systems. The conference aims to bring together researchers, engineers, water-utility professionals, and technology developers working on hydraulic and water-quality modelling, sensing and instrumentation, state estimation, automation, water infrastructures, resilient operation, and experimental validation in water systems.

The conference seeks to:

  • Highlight innovative research and emerging technologies
  • Promote sustainable and resilient water systems
  • Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Support real-world implementation of advanced solutions
  • Foster discussion on the impact of water-system monitoring and control to public health and societal resilience

The conference will be held under the auspices of Region of Central Greece and is supported by the Robotics, Automatic Control and Cyberphysical System Laboratory of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and AKATT SA.

There is no registration fee.

Call for papers

All accepted and presented papers will be published in MATEC Web of Conferences and submitted for indexing in Scopus, Web of Science CPCI, and Google Scholar.

3. Scientific Committee

The Scientific Committee will consist of internationally recognized experts from:

  • Water utilities and engineering companies
  • International organizations and public authorities

The committee will oversee the peer-review process, ensure scientific excellence, and shape the technical program. A detailed list of members will be announced on the official conference website.

5. Venue

The conference will take place in hybrid mode, supporting both in-person and online presentations. The on-site part of the event will be hosted at the Conference Centre of the Regional Unit of Euboea, located at 96- 106 Chaina Avenue, 34100 Chalkida, Euboea, Greece. Positioned in the heart of Chalkida, the capital of Euboea, the venue offers a convenient setting for a scientific meeting, with direct access to the city’s commercial center, waterfront area, and accommodation options. Chalkida is readily accessible from Athens and the wider Attica region by rail, intercity coach, and private vehicle. Rail access is provided through Hellenic Train, with Chalkida served within the national and suburban railway system, while intercity coach connections are available through KTEL Evia. Participants arriving in Greece via Athens International Airport may travel onward by rail through Athens or by road to Chalkida. 7. Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to prepare and submit original, unpublished papers written in English and aligned with the scientific scope of MoCWS 2026. Manuscripts should clearly present the objectives of the work, the methodological framework, the main results, and the corresponding conclusions, with sufficient technical detail and appropriate bibliographic support. Submitted papers must be 4 pages in length, including all illustrations and references.

All submissions must be prepared using the official conference templates available on the MoCWS 2026 website. The use of the conference templates is mandatory to ensure compatibility with the conference proceedings format. The templates of the conference can be found in the folowing links.

All accepted papers must be accompanied by a signed publication rights form from at least one author. The completed form must be submitted together with the camera-ready paper via the Microsoft Conference Management Toolkit.

The Microsoft CMT service was used for managing the peer-reviewing process for this conference. This service was provided for free by Microsoft and they bore all expenses, including costs for Azure cloud services as well as for software development and support.

9. Peer-Review and Selection Process

All submissions will undergo a single-blind peer review under the responsibility of the conference editors and the Scientific Committee. Evaluation criteria include:

  • Originality and innovation
  • Scientific quality
  • Relevance to conference themes
  • Clarity and methodology

Each paper will be reviewed by at least two experts. Accepted contributions will be presented as oral presentations and included in the conference proceedings.
